The arts tell the story of our culture, and impact 21st century society as perhaps no other field does. To the extent that art reflects the heart of its creator, lives transformed by the Gospel serve as agents of cultural change.
Redeemer Presbyterian Church has a long history of both embracing artists in a loving Christian community and challenging them to express their faith through their lives and creative work to the glory of God and for the benefit of their industries.
Specifically, the Arts Ministry seeks to:
- build communities of artists where they can know and be known by God and one another;
- provide opportunities for artists to create in Christ-centered community, for the benefit of the church and our city;
- lead the Redeemer congregation to engage with the art of NYC and with its artists, for the purposes of cultural renewal.
IN THE LIVING ROOM ARTIST INTENSIVES
In the Living Room is a vocational intensive for artists in New York City seeking to deepen their commitment to engaging their work in light of the gospel. This program offers artists discipleship, informal theological training, as well as encouragement towards their vocational callings.
THREE MONTH ARTIST INTENSIVES
The Vocational Artist Intensive is a 3-month experience that will allow you an in-depth look at your field through the lens of the gospel.
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAMS
In practice of arts patronage, the Center for Faith & Work’s new artist-in-residence program has a two-pronged purpose: to support emerging and established local artists through the commissioning of new work, and to celebrate and contribute to the intrinsic value of the arts as a vital fabric of the city.
Redeemer Arts Ministries and the Center for Faith & Work sponsor an annual juried art exhibition as well as special exhibition events to support artists within the Redeemer community and engage the broader congregation. Our past Exhibitions are HERE.
